Hi,
Is there any way to install Dell OMSA on a Dell Poweredge server which is running a non-server based Windows OS such as XPx64 or Win7x64 OS?
Thanks,
Mike

Cool ... I guess. I just don't understand why you would go through the trouble of installing an unsupported version of OMSA on a system with whose hardware it is not familiar, when you could easily download 6.2 which is fully supported on the 710. Why not have both available? Its not like it is prohibitively large. An older version of OMSA is only required for servers 6th generaton (1650, 2650, 6650) and older, as 6.2 will work on 8G through 11G servers.

Thats helpfu, thanks. I've been having to carry around two sets of installation files so I can install osma depending on the hardware platform. Hopefully I can install v6 on 2900's using this trick. Shame I didn't read this earlier though as I had to download v5.5 yesterday as my loaded 6 wouldn't work!

You can also bypass this when installing IT Assistant (Dell OpenManage Management Station) by going directly to C:\OpenManage\windows\ManagementStation\MgmtSt.msi and running it there. It prompts and informs that you've not run the prereq checker but will let you install it anyways.
