We are trying to do the same in our school district and have run into problems authenticating every time. It is very intermittent and therefore sometimes works and sometimes does not work. I'm a strong believer that either Microsoft's IAS or FreeRadius can provide all that is needed to support wireless users, seeing as I've deployed numerous wireless networks without ever resorting to ACS. The Cisco device was not recognizing the attribute as the cisco-avpair. I agree the newer versions are eaiser to install than the 1.x versions of FR. The only issues I'm having are on the Cisco side. Their standard answer is "get ACS".
